There is a selection of materials that can be utilised as a support, but the pet portrait artist has to decide what will be the most suitable material for the longegity of his or her painting. Much will depend on the type of paint being used, oil and acrylic tend to be a more flexible medium so can be applied with reasonable confidence on fabrics that have been properly prepared. Although sometimes overlooked, animal have always been a favourite subject in English art, there is still a keen interest for pet portraits, although these tend to be of dogs, cats, birds and fish also get the honour have having their portrait painted for their devoted owner. Wearing a star tattoo is not that original but it could surely make one feel good. The symbolism of the star varies from one culture to another: for sailors, the nautical star tattoo reminds the security of home and the necessity for superior guidance at all times.

Our pets really do become important members of our family, with their own unique and adorable character that we all love. Over the years we collect so many of those photos of them doing all those things that make them so unique. At some point though we need more than just a happy snap that gets put into a drawer, never to be seen again. Read the rest of this entry »
